Locksmith Installation: Fresh Fit Installation Of A 5 Lever British Standard Deadlock

A customer contacted us in Falmouth, requesting that we fit a lock to the bottom of their stable door - the top portion already had a lock but they wanted one on the bottom portion to bolster strength and security.

What Type Of Lock?

When choosing a lock, you've got to remember that not all locks are equal - The locks we use meet BS3621 standards, which are recognised by insurers and recommended for external doors.

To meet BS3621 they must have:

• 5 levers with 1000 or more differs

• Measures to prevent picking these 5 Levers

• A minimum of 20mm bolt throw into the door frame

• Hardplates to protect the lock from drilling and destructive entry attempts

Why is this important?

The main benefits of having BS3621 British Standard approved locks fitted are:

✅ Tested against Burglary techniques such as drilling and picking

✅ Comply with your insurance policy – most require this standard as a bare minimum

The Installation - 5 Lever British Standard Deadlock

Once we figured out the best positioning (somewhere relatively central whilst also accessible for use of the key) a hole was morticed out of the door profile. A new 5 lever British Standard lock was supplied and fitted with escutcheons.
